Getting Married
Intent
Young, old, once, twice . . . people continue to get married. How many of
these couples actually take a look at the financial issues that may change
once married? This one-hour class allows you to show your expertise in
financial matters and gives you the opportunity to get couples talking about
the many financial issues that should be discussed prior to tying the knot.
Getting Married begins with an exercise for couples that describes
their financial personality types. You will then explain how they can take
steps to manage their differences and build on their financial similarities.
Next, help them see the importance of understanding what is owned, owed, and
earned. This, in turn, allows for a starting point for establishing
financial goals. Other issues to be discussed are the titling of assets,
prenuptial agreements, and debt. Once these issues have been reviewed, you
will help the couples take a look at their earnings and establish a joint
spending plan.
This class will close with a look at the issues surrounding a variety of
insurance products such as auto, homeowners, umbrella policies, health, and
life. You will show the class the importance of updating their policies and
how to analyze whether their coverage is sufficient. Getting married is a
time of joy. Show the soon-to-be or just-married couples ways to keep their
marriage joyful by making sure they start out on the right financial track.
Target Audience
Getting Married will be a great class for engaged or newly married
couples or couples considering marriage.
